Adventures of an Evolving Blogger – A Deep Breath in the Meantime

It’s been a while since we last CHATTED and here is why…

The start of a New Year is the perfect time to write my final blog post – for now – as CHITCHAT RUNWAY and explain my absence over the last few months.  I’ve decided to take a hiatus from blogging in order to retool and, eventually, relaunch but with a different focus and message. So, what in the world does that mean??

Over time, I slowly started realizing that I no longer wanted to write about the red carpet, celebrity hookups, or the hottest nail polish. Don’t get me wrong; I’m still a huge fan of fashion and beauty and a total sucker for killer red carpet ensembles. I enjoyed writing those posts. Thinking about Brangelina still gives me life and yes, “in my mind”, Jennifer Lopez and I will forever be life-long besties – lol. However, I felt my greatest sense of fulfillment when writing about more substantive topics within the pop culture realm.

Articles like “Woman in the Mirror: Caitlyn Jenner’s Journey,” “The Baby Breadwinner: 4 Reasons to Think Twice Before Putting Kids in Show Business” and the “Benevolent Baller Spotlight” series all got my juices flowing in a way that award show recaps and celebrity breakup postmortems never did.  And, I can’t forget one of my most personal blog posts, “The Mike Brown Tragedy: A Mother’s Perspective,” which had nothing to do with pop culture, but reflected on the sadness and frustration I felt about this and similar tragedies. Each of these articles started me on a course to find my voice as an evolving writer. They helped me realize that I’d like to focus my writing on material that celebrates all that I love about pop culture while also analyzing societal and/or cultural shifts. So, I’m saying goodbye for now so that I can take the time to develop a platform that reflects my passions.

I want to sincerely thank you for joining me on this one-and-a-half year journey while I indulged my life-long obsession with pop culture! And, in the words of Paulo Coelho, “If you’re brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello!”
