Russell Okung, offensive tackle for the Seattle Seahawks, is in the “Benevolent Baller” spotlight on CHITCHAT RUNWAY!

“…For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall much be required…” (Luke 12:48). Russell Okung is tremendously blessed with world-class athletic ability and understands the importance of leveraging his time and resources to give back to the community!

Russell founded the UP Foundation, “a charitable fund registered under the POISE Foundation, a certified 501(c)(3) organization whose mission is to give back to the community by reaching out to children of single parent homes while offering them hope through activities and information on the importance of a good education and social responsibility.” (

The UP Foundation also sponsors the “76 Fun Day Football Camp”, a program where kids have fun learning how to sharpen both their football skills and leadership abilities. The camp also includes the opportunity to interact with other professional athletes.

“UP promises to inspire children and enable them to realize their potential to build a better future through community events, charitable giving, grants and other related programs. Stated goals will allow many positive opportunities for children to foster leadership, academic and social skills and to give back to their community.” (

Kudos to Russell!

Background on “Benevolent Baller Spotlight” feature in CHITCHAT RUNWAY:

All too often, we’re inundated with negative images of sports figures in the press. However, I believe it’s important to add balance by showcasing athletes who actively strive to be great role models and give back to their communities. It was in this spirit that the “Benevolent Baller Spotlight” was launched.
