4 More Reasons I Love Football: Confessions of a Female Football Addict – Part II

PinkHelmetAugust is finally here, so now is the perfect time to reflect on the most exhilarating sport in the land! No, I’m not talking about the epic athletic showdown among shoppers in the women’s shoe department at Saks Fifth Avenue during the day-after-Christmas sale…although that’s a really close second. I’m talking about the other love of my life – FOOTBALL!

You may recall the first post in the “Confessions of a Female Football Addict installment where I reflected on the 6 reasons I love football. Well, here are 4 more reasons I can’t get enough of this game:

  • Amazing Stories: It never gets old hearing the personal interest stories during a live broadcast or halftime. The heroic tales of players beating the odds and overcoming adversity to play the game they love gets me all warm and fuzzy inside. Speaking of amazing personal interest stories…Is anybody else out there as addicted to the “30 for 30” documentary series on ESPN as I am?
  • Love the Pins and Needles: Ok, how did I go from screaming at the top of my lungs with excitement one minute to silently clutching my pearls the next? That’s the beauty of football – anything can change in an instant. Need I remind you of the amazing Auburn games in 2013 against UGA and the Crimson Tide? Instant classics! I can still hear the Auburn radio announcer’s voice in my head – lol.
  • Breath of Fresh Air: Football is the only sport that has its own seasonal scent. Have you ever walked outside on a beautiful October day and said out loud, “It smells like football!”? I sure have…only true addicts will feel me on this one.
  • League of its Own: I can’t get into soccer – I just can’t – and baseball makes me sleepy. Yes, I do love basketball, but football is my first love. Ha!

Are you as excited about football season as I am?
